The capital development agency, Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has decided to launch an affordable housing scheme under the sponsored Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana center.
The availability of housing under PMAY will be based on the PMAY demand survey that will be carried out shortly. Application forms for the demand survey will be available at the Chandigarh Housing Board office and at CHB’s official website. The house count will be decided after picking up the answer in the demand survey.
The Chandigarh housing council has been selected as the nodal agency for the implementation of PM Awas Yojana and the board would launch a PMAY demand survey soon for residents belonging to the LIG and EWS on a non-profit basis without losses.
To be eligible for the scheme, the annual income of applicants in the EWS category must not exceed Rs. 3 lakh and for the lower income group (LIG) category, the annual income should be between Rs 3 lakh to Rs 6 lakh.
The cost of a flat in the LIG category will be Rs 06 to 15 lakh, while it will be half the amount for the EWS category.
The modalities of the scheme are being developed. The size of the floors and the final cost will be decided soon. But the cost will be within the reach of the desired groups of people.
Since last time, its been noticed by the government that residents are suing for affordable homes in the city.
The CHB expects a huge response to the scheme as it approaches at a time when the home owner has become out of reach of most people because of the high cost. The construction of these houses will be carried out in G + 4 type buildings.
